Sun Run InTraining Week 1: Moving Myself
Yeah! I survived my first day of Sun Run InTraining. It was such a great feeling to know that I’m going to be out there participating in such a big event. At the clinic that I’m training at, there are 55 participants which is apparently the highest number of participants they’ve had since they started at this particular clinic. Aside from a weekly session every Sunday, I have to run on my own twice a week following the InTraining program. First thing I learned was shuffling. It was weird to shuffle but it is a really good way to get your body used to the impact caused by running without causing injury and expending too much energy. You don’t even realize that a minute has passed when you’re shuffling. We’ll be shuffling for 4 weeks of training then the remaining 9 weeks we’ll be running. I’ve registered with the Learn to Run 10K program which will hopefully help me run 10K non-stop after 13 weeks of training. Now the next step is to make sure I go and run in the next few days before my next session. According to one of the clinic leaders a trainee must stick to the program because it is designed to gradually transform you into a runner and at the same time prevent injury. I think next week we’ll learn about proper footwear for running. Footwear is always exciting whether it’d be stilettos or running shoes!
